Energy Efficiency Retrofits
Energy efficiency upgrades for residences and businesses can be as simple as installing insulation, weatherizing, and upgrading to more efficient furnaces and windows. The government can help Albertans keep their energy costs low while making more sustainable choices.
Boosting energy efficiency in every home that needs it would create an immediate opportunity to put between 10,000 and 22,000 Albertans back to work this year! Homeowners could save hundreds of dollars per year in heating and cooling bills. These energy efficiency savings would last indefinitely. The program would also reduce Alberta’s growing greenhouse gas footprint. The full program would be equivalent to taking 150,000 cars off the road, and keeping them off, year after year.
Promoting energy efficiency upgrades creates jobs in many sectors. Examples of jobs include: electricians, heating/air conditioning installers, carpenters, construction equipment operators, roofers, insulation workers, carpenter helpers, industrial truck drivers, construction managers, building inspectors, and sheet metal workers.
